Corrections and takedown
Last updated 19 October 2026
Found a mistake, or want a record taken down? This is how it works. Anyone can write. You do not need to be a customer or an author.
Reporting an error
Use the contact form and choose “A correction to an entry”. Please include:
- the address of the page, and which value is wrong;
- what you think is right;
- where it can be checked: a PMID, a DOI, a register entry, or your own measurement, saying so;
- your email address, so we can answer.
We reply within 15 working days.
What happens next
A correction of an error in the data is made without conditions. You do not have to agree to anything or give anything in return. We check the source. If it supports the change, the value is changed. If we cannot tell, we leave the field empty rather than keep a value nobody can verify. We tell you when it is done. The change appears at the next update of the site.
Authors of the papers
If you wrote a paper this index draws on, and a value attributed to it is wrong or a quoted sentence is used out of context, write the same way and say so. We check the paper and fix the record.
Removing a publication record
The index lists publications as bibliographic records: PMID, title, journal, year and a link. Bibliographic data are not subject to copyright, so a record is not removed automatically. Each request is considered individually.
Use the contact form and choose “Privacy, deletion or takedown request”. Include the address of the record, its PMID or DOI, why you want it removed, and your connection to the work. We reply within 10 working days with a decision and the reason for it. Where removal is justified, for example for a retracted paper or a genuine rights issue, the record is removed at the next update.
Personal data
Requests about personal data, such as having an enquiry you sent deleted, follow the same route. The details are on the privacy page.
